Can anyone do it? What age can you start climbing?
It doesn’t matter how fit, how small, how daring or inexperienced you might be, we have a range of different challenges and routes which will appeal to all abilities and aptitudes. The minimum age is 4 years. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to ensure that children are old enough to participate. If we become aware that a participant is underage we are required to stop their further participation and this session will not be eligible for a refund. Participants must be no heavier than 150kg to use the auto belay system. Please note that climbers must be over 120cm to use the Leap of Faith.
Do I need experience?
Not at all! No experience or special fitness required. Our safety briefing covers the essentials and our friendly instructors are on hand throughout the session to make sure you get the most of out of your climb.

Frequently Asked Questions
Climbing FAQs
Is there any climbing instruction?
No climbing experience is required to enjoy Clip ‘n Climb. Our instructors will lead a safety briefing and ensure your harness is fitted correctly. They are on hand throughout your session to give encouragement and advice!
How does the auto belay/clipping system work?
Our climbs use auto belays which are simple to use. When you climb you clip into the system and as you climb the auto belay takes in the slack on the tape. When you are ready to finish your climb, or if you fall off, the belay will lower you gently to the ground.
How high are the climbs?
Our climbs are all between 10 and 11 metres high.
Can adults climb? Will they be in the same arena as the kids?
Yes! The fun isn’t just for the kids! At Clip ‘n Climb adults and children can participate together. If you would rather leave the kids to it – our late afternoon and evening sessions tend to be less busy!
Which climbs are easiest?
We have a number of climbs that are great for novices and younger climbers including Big Cheese, Red Square, Hexed and Skyscraper but it’s best to ask one of our instructors on the day for advice. Each of our climbs will have a route card with an easy, medium and hard route for you to follow – this way all of the climbs are accessible even for the most inexperienced climbers. If you’re finding things too easy then the route cards are a great way to test yourself – or ask one our instructors as they love setting climbers new challenges!
